In this tour package, you will be visiting important and secret sites, temples, and meditative hike to Phajoding, offering a profound experience of Bhutan’s spiritual essence.

Day 1

Upon arrival, guests will be transferred to their hotel in Thimphu. The arrival day is typically reserved for rest and recovery after extensive travel. However, if the guests feel up to it and wish to explore, we arrange a walk around Thimphu town.

Day 2

We will begin our trip by visiting the most important monastery, Dechenphu Lhakhang built by Lam Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo in the 12th century. Dechenphu Lhakhang is believed that Ap Gyenen, the protective deity of the country, resides here. Every year, thousands of devotees around the country visits the Lhakhang to seek protection and blessings.

Next, we will travel towards Tango Monastery. Tango monastery was also built by Lam Phajo Drukgom Zhipo in 12th century. The current structure of the monastery was built in the 18th century by the eighth Druk Desi (secular ruler) of Bhutan, Desi Tenzin Rabgye. Today the Tango monastery serves as the the Drukpa Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism and retreat center.

Day 3- Hike to Phajoding.

On the third day of the tour, we will trek to Phajoding monastery which is located north of Thimphu overlooking Thimphu city at an elevation of 4000 meters above sea level. The monastery was built in 13th century by Lam Phajo Drugom Zhigpo and today, the monastery is one of the secret meditational sites in Bhutan.

Hike to Phajoding would take up to 3 to 4 hours depending on individual. Its is not too hard to trek but steady stiff slope would sometime make you feel exhausted but conquering it worth it. You will trek through towering pine trees, among stunted rhododendrons and prayer flags flung by the footpath making you feel more accomplished and refilled with energy.

After reaching Phajoding, we will visit the Lhakhang, receive blessing and proceed towards mediation cave. The main purpose of this tour is not only to explore the scenic views, landscapes, and holy sites, but to let you see and to experience it spiritually. Sitting in the cave by yourself without any disturbances from worldly pleasure and human voices, immerse yourself into deep thought of contemplation.

Towards the evening, we will sit together atop Phajoding, looking at Thimphu city as dusk settles. Gradually, we will witness the emergence of small, glittering lights from the city below. The panoramic views from the mountain, filled with a mix of loneliness and away from the bustling city life, will evoke a profound realization of the beauty in being free from all worries.

Day 4

Next day, we will return to Thimphu. The descend from Phajoding to Thimphu would take only about one to two hours. We will be going around Thimphu city, meeting people, visiting handy craft shops, enjoying local cuisine.
