Druk Path Trek

5-day Druk Path Trek in Bhutan is a scenic and rewarding short trek, covering 56 km and reaching an elevation of 4110 meters. Starting at Paro near the national museum and ending at Motithang, Thimphu, the route passes through pine forests, mountain ridges, and high-altitude glacial lakes, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The best time to trek is from March to May or mid-September to December. Highlights include diverse flora, ancient temples, monasteries, dzongs, pristine villages, local interactions, and archery matches. December trekking is perfectly doable.

Day 01. Arrive Paro and sightseeing | Altitude: 2200 m.

Day 02. Paro – Jele dzong (Start of Druk Path trek itinerary) | 10 Km | Hike: 4 – 5 hours | Altitude: 3560 m.

Day 03. Jele dzong – Jangchulakha | 10 Km | Hike: 3 – 4 hours | Altitude: 3770 m.

Day 04. Jangchulakha – Jimilangtso | 11 Km | Hike:  4 hours | Altitude: 3870 m.

Day 05. Jimilangtso – Simkota | 11 km | Hike: 4 hours | Altitude: 4110 m.

Day 06. Simkota – Phajoding – Thimphu (End of Druk Path trek itinerary) | 15 km | Hike: 6 – 7 hours | Altitude: 2334 m.

Day 07. Thimphu sightseeing | Altitude 2334 m.

Day 08. Thimphu-Paro (Departure) | 54 km | Drive: 1 hour.

  • Entry Fees to Monuments, Zoos, and Temples: Admission fees to various attractions such as monuments, zoos, and temples are not included. Please budget for these expenses separately.
