Family Trip to Bhutan: 7 days and 6 Nights.

This exciting package is designed to provide our interested traveler who wish to visit Bhutan in family or in group. This seven-day tour will take you from the vibrant capital city Thimphu to the beautiful valley of Phobjikha and ending with a breathtaking hike to Taktshang Monastery.

Day 1 – Arrival

Upon arrival, guests will be transferred to their hotel in Thimphu. The arrival day is typically reserved for rest and recovery after extensive travel. However, if the guests feel up to it and wish to explore, we arrange a walk around Thimphu town.

Day 2 – City Tour

The trip will start by visiting one of the tallest Buddha Statues in the world located at Kuenselphodrang popularly known as Buddha point, overlooking beautiful Thimphu city. The panoramic view from the Buddha point sums up the complete Thimphu city at a glance.

Next, we will visit Memorial Chorten (Stupa) which was build in 1974 in the memory of our beloved Third king late Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and then to Majestic Thimphu Tashichho Dzong.           Tashichho Dzong serves as the office of His Majestry the King and the district Administration of Thimphu. The massive structure lies in the beautiful valley of Hejo as a symbol of Bhutanese Architecture.  

Toward the evening, we will be moving to Motithang Takin Preserve which is located north of Thimphu. The zoo has one of the rare animals called Takin and is the national animal of Bhutan.  

Day 3 – Punakha

We will travel to Punakha which is about 70 km from Thimphu towards east. We will be passing through Dochula Pass, a popular tourist stops for photo session and to magnificent 108 stupas. In an hour drive from Dochula, we will stop at Chimi Lhakhang popularly known as the Temple of Fertility for blessing couples with children. Our next stop will be Punakha Dzong. Punakha Dzong was built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel and is the second oldest and largest dzong in Bhutan. In the evening, we will take a walk to the suspension bridge over the Punakha River, perfect for enjoying fresh air and calming winds.

Day 4 – Phobjikha

We will set our journey to beautiful Phobjikha Valley. The place is known for its beauty and notably a winter habitat for the rare, majestic, Black-necked Crane. The best time to visit this Phobjikha valley is from October to December and is the time for the arrival of Black necked crane. However, during spring and mid-summer, the valley is filled with lush and absolute beauty with freshwater stream flowing through the center, creating a landscape straight out of a dream making it the ideal moment to immerse yourself in nature’s splendor and beauty. Following, we will drive to the historic Gangtey Goempa, a sacred Nyingma monastery perched on the heavenly Phobjikha valley. From here, we’ll go on a picturesque trail walk, descending from the monastery into the valley, allowing us to fully appreciate the breathtaking scenery and tranquility of this extraordinary place.

Day 5 – Back to Paro

We will return to Paro for a restful day in preparation for the next day trip to Taktsang. Towards, the evening, we will go for a brief Paro town sightseeing, meeting locals and souvenir shopping in handicraft shops and places.

Day 6 – Paro Taktsang/Tiger’s Nest

Paro Taktsang, popularly known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, is one of the iconic and sacred sites built in 17th century on the edge of a cliff in the upper Paro valley. It is also one of the most visited place and religion icon in Bhutan. The monastery is about 3120 meters above sea level which takes up to 4-5 hours to hike up and 1.5 hours to descend. Hiking up to Taktsang can be challenging yet, its rewarding with unforgettable experience due to its location and breathtaking views.

After traveling for days and hiking in the mountainous path, to help ease tired body we will go for a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath. This traditional bath involves soaking in a wooden tub filled with water heated by hot stones infused with local herbs, believed to have healing properties, providing a perfect remedy for our aching bodies and a relaxing end to a memorable day.

  • Entry Fees to Monuments, Zoos, and Temples: Admission fees to various attractions such as monuments, zoos, and temples are not included. Please budget for these expenses separately.
