The Dungkar Naktsang tour is a special offering that spans up to 14 days. Dungkar Natsang is the birthplace of the Wangchuk Dynasty, with a history tracing back to the 16th-century treasure discoverer Terton Pema Lingpa and his descendants, Pala Wangpo Gyeltshen and Pila. This captivating tour covers almost the entire country, from East to West and Central Bhutan. Along the way, you will visit beautiful countryside and lush vegetation. Highlights include the picturesque Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake) in Bumthang and various sacred sites. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the ruins of Dzongar Dzong (Fortress of Dzongar) on the way to Naktshang.

Day 1: Arrival in Paro

Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Spend the day resting and acclimating to the altitude. Enjoy a welcome dinner featuring traditional Bhutanese cuisine.

Day 2: Trip to Taktshang – Tiger’s Nest

Begin your journey with a hike to the iconic Taktshang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. Perched on a cliffside, this sacred site offers stunning views and insights into Bhutan’s spiritual heritage. Spend the afternoon exploring Paro town.

Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing

Travel to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, the gigantic Buddha Dordenma statue, and the Takin Reserve. Explore the Folk Heritage Museum and the National Textile Museum for a deeper understanding of Bhutanese culture. Stroll around the vibrant streets of Thimphu in the evening.

Day 4: Dechenphug Lhakhang and Cheri Monastery

Visit Dechenphug Lhakhang, a sacred temple dedicated to Genyen Jagpa Melen, the protective deity of Bhutan. Then, take a short drive to the base of Cheri Monastery and hike up to this peaceful retreat founded by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

Day 5: Travel to Punakha

Travel to Punakha via the Dochula Pass, where you’ll stop to admire the 108 chortens and panoramic views of the Himalayas. In Punakha, visit Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility, and the majestic Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.

Day 6: Phobjikha Valley

Journey to the picturesque Phobjikha Valley, the winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes. Visit Gangtey Monastery and enjoy a nature hike through the valley, taking in the tranquil beauty and spotting wildlife.

Day 7: Phobjikha to Trongsa

Travel to Trongsa, stopping along the way to appreciate the stunning landscapes. Visit Trongsa Dzong, the largest dzong fortress in Bhutan, and explore the Ta Dzong Museum, which offers a comprehensive look at Bhutanese history and culture.

Day 8: Trongsa to Bumthang

Continue your journey to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. En route, visit the Yathra Weaving Center in Chumey Valley to see traditional Bhutanese textiles being crafted. In Bumthang, settle into your accommodations and relax.

Day 9: Bumthang Sightseeing

Discover the sacred sites of Bumthang, including Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang, and Tamshing Lhakhang. Visit the mystical Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake), a revered pilgrimage site where Terton Pema Lingpa discovered sacred treasures.

Day 10: Travel to Kurtoe

Embark on a scenic drive to Kurtoe, a region rich in history and natural beauty. Enjoy the journey through lush forests and charming villages, arriving at your destination to unwind.

Day 11: Khoma Village and Takila Guru Statue

Visit Khoma Village, renowned for its intricate handwoven textiles. Witness the traditional weaving process and interact with local artisans. Then, head to the majestic Takila Guru Statue, one of the largest statues of Guru Rinpoche in the world. Finally, explore Dungkar Naktsang, the ancestral home of the Wangchuk Dynasty.

Day 12: Travel to Trashigang

Journey to Trashigang, stopping to visit Mongar Dzong along the way. Explore Yadi Village and continue to Khaling, where you will visit the Khaling Handloom Center and the Blind School, experiencing the unique culture and crafts of the region.

Day 13: Yonphula to Paro

Fly from Yonphula to Paro and indulge in a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath, a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Spend your last evening in Paro reflecting on your journey and enjoying a farewell dinner.

Day 14: Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro International Airport for your departure. Take with you the memories of an incredible journey through the heart of Bhutan.
